Enrollment
STEP ONE: Parent Meeting
The first step in enrolling in the Suzuki School of Newton is to attend one of our monthly parent meetings. These gatherings explain the fundamentals of our program and the Suzuki method and give prospective families an opportunity to ask questions about the expectations of the curriculum. Our next Spring parent meetings will be Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 7:30 pm. The meeting lasts one hour.
STEP TWO: Observation Prior to Enrollment
Parents are required to observe a minimum of one group lesson, one musicianship class, and one individual lesson. Observations may be scheduled at the parent meeting or via phone and email. After observing, families may request an interview in the front office.
STEP THREE: Set-up an interview with the Director or designated faculty member
Parents appreciate the opportunity to have their children evaluated for instrument readiness. This is also an important opportunity for a child to hear that he is part of the decision for starting music instruction and helps him understand his part in the commitment to daily music practicing. Parents often have final questions and schdules are discussed to make a final decision for placement.
STEP FOUR: Register
Once schedules have been worked out, return your registration form with payment to the office. The registration form is available at the SSN office, and is also included in the information packet. Alternatively, it is also available as a download. Please print out the .pdf file and remit with your payment at the office.
James Thornblade Memorial Scholarship
Scholarships are available based on financial need. Please click here or contact the office for an application. Applications must be received in the SSN office by July 31, 2011, in order to be considered for the 2011-2012 award year. An interview with the director is required for consideration.
